Student summary for application to Queens College of Theology

Good day, to all,

My decision to apply to Queens College of Theology to pursue a PhD in Philosophy in Biblical Studies stems from my desire to merge the disciplines of philosophy, biblical studies, and financial counseling. Philosophy, the study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, ethics, and reason, serves as a vital framework for understanding complex human issues. Biblical studies, focused on the interpretation and contextual analysis of scriptures, provides spiritual and moral insights that resonate deeply with those of faith, particularly within the Abrahamic traditions.

As a financial professional with over 20 years of experience in consumer retail finance and management, I’ve witnessed the significant intersection between financial health and emotional well-being. My ongoing journey to obtain certification as a Financial Social Work Educator from the Center for Financial Social Work is equipping me with tools to address the psychosocial aspects of financial behavior. This certification, paired with a PhD in Philosophy in Biblical Studies, will allow me to establish a non-profit yet for-profit virtual consultation service. This service will guide individuals in understanding whether they require financial social work, which addresses the emotional and behavioral aspects of financial health, or financial therapy, which delves into psychological barriers to financial stability.

By integrating an interfaith approach, my goal is to provide faith-based financial mental health solutions. Using biblical narratives and principles, I aim to support individuals of faith—primarily within the Abrahamic traditions—in navigating financial challenges while fostering emotional and spiritual growth.

This unique combination of philosophy, biblical studies, financial social work, and faith-based counseling reflects my commitment to holistic care. Queens College of Theology’s program aligns with my vision to empower individuals and communities through knowledge, faith, and financial resilience.
