Redeeming Time: A Gift from God
Matthew 6:21: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Time is one of the most precious gifts God has given us. In Psalm 90:1-4, we are reminded of God's eternal nature and the fleeting nature of our lives. Each moment we have is an opportunity to invest in what truly matters - our relationships, our faith and our purpose.
Often, we act as if we have an endless supply of time, neglecting the importance of nurturing our connections with family and friends. The story of Chelsea in āOn Golden Pondā illustrates this struggle, highlighting how easily we can drift apart from those we love. We can become so consumed with daily tasks that we overlook the blessings around us.
James 4:13-15 cautions us against taking time for granted. We are reminded that life is fleeting and we should approach each day with intentionality, recognising it as a gift from God.
The concept of time can sometimes feel burdensome, as seen in Ecclesiastes. However, we are called to redeem our time, making the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:15-17). This means prioritising rest, renewal and spiritual growth, aligning our daily rhythms with Godās will.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of time. Help us to recognise its value and to use it wisely. Teach us to savor each moment, to invest in our relationships and to draw closer to You. May we not take our days for granted but instead see them as opportunities to fulfill Your purpose. Guide us in redeeming our time, making choices that reflect our love for You and for those around us.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
@Everyone, @chua hoo huat Sir, you are very right. It seems to me that the actual currency attached to our life on earth by the Lord is time. The human life has so many amazing valuables as designed by the Lord, but we are to utilize them per time such that everyone has a lifetime. This is why we spend our life values at work or on a job per time and get paid in some currencies. Though the government of every nation made some kind of currency as a general tender with purchasing power or value, that was for the purpose of organizing and managing their respective economies.
We also spend part of our lifetime learning to polish our values and sometimes with additional resources like money. I am very blessed and happy to find QCT offering a tuition-free program. Yet not at a cost because our time is needed to study, write, and polish our Bible skills and understanding. So I must focus on my studies to complete it in the shortest possible time because I love to spend my time judiciously. Friends and brethren, let us put in our best to study and maximize our time at QCT and in other endeavors. Cheers
