BS505 Students: The purpose of the Pentateuch was to prepare Israel for faithful service to God in the conquest and settlement of the Promised Land. How can you apply this to your present life and ministry?

As a married Christian father of six who serves as a minister of security in a non-denominational church in Houston, Texas, I can apply the principles of the Pentateuch by leading my family and church community with faith, obedience, and integrity. Just as Moses guided Israel through God’s law and prepared them for the Promised Land,  It is my duty to provide spiritual and moral leadership within my home, ensuring my children grow in faith and righteousness. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 instructs believers to impress God’s commandments on their children, teaching them diligently in daily life.

My role in church security also reflects the biblical call to protect and serve others, just as God established laws for justice and order in Israel. Exodus 18:21 emphasizes the importance of selecting trustworthy and God-fearing leaders, a principle that applies to his duty in maintaining safety and order in the church. By trusting God’s guidance, upholding ethical principles, and fostering collective leadership, I’m not only strengthening my family but also ensuring a secure and spiritually uplifting environment for my church community. Through faith and obedience, I am attempting to model biblical leadership in both my household and ministry, fulfilling his calling with wisdom and devotion.

I was raised in a christian household that loved the lord. My wife of 17 years was also raised  in a christian household that loved and served the lord faithfully. The journey of life is similar to the journey of the Israelites as they escaped bondage and traveled through the wilderness in search of the promised land. Serving in the church over the years has been a journey. Each Sunday brings a different challenge. I am honored to serve and protect our clergy, ministers, volunteers, and parishioners. I challenge others to show God their gratitude by serving in the church in a manner that makes them comfortable. I started as an usher as a youth and transitioned from the youth choir to the adult choir. My current role is on the security team and this is how I show my gratitude.
