BS505 Students: The purpose of the Pentateuch was to prepare Israel for faithful service to God in the conquest and settlement of the Promised Land. How can you apply this to your present life and ministry?

The period of the Pentateuch’s installment brought about the guidance and discipline required to prepare Israel for faithful service. However, the new covenant is powered by the indwelling Holy Spirit that powers the life of the believer and the work they do to bring glory to God and fulfill His perfect will. Although present-day saints' benefit from the righteousness of Christ it does not mean there is no work or discipline required of them. Today saints must learn how to apply Luke 9.23, “And he said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me”. This scripture speaks of surrender. Spiritual and physical surrender is the daily act of allowing the indwelling Holy Spirit to lead one in all things. Today saints must put aside their will for His...and allow the Holy Spirit to take the lead. This may sound simple or easy, but it is not. It is the “battlefield of the mind”. In the battlefield, the combatants are the flesh, and the devil against the believer’s growing desire to be led by the Holy Spirit. The history of Israel and the Pentateuch provide an illustration of what saints endure today. The successes and failures of today's Christian yield contrasting outcomes on a personal level like that experienced by Israel back then. However over time. for those who prove faithful will mature and produce bountiful fruits of the Spirit that bring glory to the Lord God Almighty.
