Preaching—Letting God Speak Through Us
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17 (KJV)
Preaching is not just public speaking - it is a way for God to speak to people. Choosing a Bible verse is only a small part of preparing a sermon. A good sermon comes from a heart that walks with God and listens to Him. People don’t need to hear our opinions; they need to hear God’s message.
Great preachers like George Whitefield shared God’s Word with passion and truth. He did not start a new church but focused on pointing people to Jesus. Dr. Crawford Loritts also reminds us that we face spiritual battles every day. Our strength to fight does not come from our own wisdom but from knowing God and trusting in Jesus.
In a battle, a soldier uses a short sword for close fighting. In the same way, we need to keep God’s Word close to our hearts to fight spiritual battles. Today, sermons may be shorter and easier to understand, but the power of God’s truth has not changed. When we preach, we must do it with prayer and trust that God will use our words to change lives.
Lord, thank You for giving us Your Word. Help us to share it with others in a way that is clear and full of love. Give us wisdom and strength to speak Your truth. Help us to stand firm in our faith and trust in You during spiritual battles. May our preaching bring people closer to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
