Standing Firm in Faith Against Deception
Scriptural Verse:
“He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” – John 8:44
Message:
We live in a world shaped by human wisdom and worldly values. Because of sin, people are easily influenced by what they see and hear. But as believers, we should not let these things distract us. Instead, we must keep our eyes on Jesus, the one who strengthens our faith. He is our mediator and the source of truth.
Satan, on the other hand, is the father of lies. He distorts God’s Word, causes division, and fills people with fear and doubt. He wants to prevent believers from growing in their faith and learning from one another. If we are not careful, we may fall into this trap and close our hearts to godly wisdom shared by others.
That’s why we must stand firm in our faith. We should test everything against Scripture, hold on to what is true, and reject what is false. Instead of fearing deception, we should seek wisdom from God and trust Him to lead us in truth.
Reflection:
• Are you filtering what you hear through God’s Word, or are you influenced by worldly thinking?
• Do you allow fear to stop you from learning from other believers?
• How can you stand firm in faith and discern truth from lies?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of truth. In a world filled with deception, help me to stand firm in my faith and discern what is right according to Your Word. Give me wisdom to reject lies and hold on to what is good. Help me not to fear, but to trust that You will guide me in truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
@chua hoo huat. One inspiring point is learning from each other. One particular strategy of the devil against most senior ministers is knowledge pride; they feel they know well enough more than everyone, so they do not need to allow other ministers to teach the congregation while they listen and learn themselves.
