I just completed the Kingdom & Covenants of the Old Testament course and learned so much. What's interesting is that several years ago I attended a Pentecostal church where a very talented and Holy Spirit filled pastor taught exclusively from the New Testament. He even said that the Old Testament can be discarded because cavalry changed everything. I never felt comfortable with that and YET I do not doubt his faith in the Lord and the indwelling Holy Spirit in him. He just held on to certain beliefs regardless. However, he made that comment to a young Christian man and may have been trying to get him to focus on his early walk with the Lord. Nevertheless, It goes to show that we have to always study the scripture for ourselves as 2 Tim. 2:15 commands. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and got a 90% on the exam. I'll continue on to the next course and let the Holy Spirit teach me and guide me Himself.

Thomas,

Thank you for this post.

I am sorry that your report concerns the incorrect teaching attributed to a Pentecostal Preacher/Teacher. His philosophy is not common to the Pentecostal people--of whom I am one.

Doctrinally, we affirm the entire canonical Bible--all 66 books--as being the divinely inspired Word of God.

Both the Old Testament and the New Testament are valid and work together to reveal God's story to humankind.

The New Testament did not make the Old Testament obsolete; instead, it completed it.

I, as a charismatic/Pentecostal affirm that God has breathed the Old and New Testament as His revelation.
