(Jud. 3-13)

2 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring swift destruction on themselves. 2 And many will follow their debaucheries, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed, 3 and through covetousness they will make merchandise of you with feigned words. For such their condemnation has not lingered for a long time, and their destruction does not slumber.

I think we are all taking on the challenge of not being accepted in certain circles, even in the gospel, at some point, because preparing ourselves in the word of the Lord brings with it the commitment of not distorting it to use it for our own benefit. There have always been false teachers, the challenge today is to see how influential, world-renowned leaders affect a part of the practice of the gospel with their false teachings. And mind you, I say a part because no matter how much they want the word to be alive and effective, and there is no way they can prevent it from breaking the chains of deception.
