QCT Announces First Graduate

(CHARLOTTE, NC) - In 2021, Queens College of Theology was formed with the overall goal to create accessible, accelerated, and affordable academic programs designed to train our future Christian leaders.


Queens College of Theology is proud to announce that Matthew Gillery has exceedingly met all academic requirements and was awarded the first Master of Divinity degree from Queens College of Theology.

Matthew Gillery graduated with honors, Summa Cum Laude, and with the self-paced system, Mr. Gillery achieved such high honors within four months.

Dr. Leftwich, Chancellor of Queens College of Theology, said "When I think of a model student, Matthew is the first thing that pops into mind. Granted, no one expected him to pursue with such vigor and speed academically, but the fact that he was able to achieve such a massive milestone with near perfection brings me joy and hope for the ministries he will serve. I do not doubt that Mr. Gillery will achieve nothing less of greatness".


Matthew Gillery additionally added, "I am humbled... Queens has helped me to get focused on my studies at a time when I (and many others) need to be focused on faith!"


Matthew has been recognized for his involvement in community-oriented initiatives, including the Lyndon Baines Johnson Fellowship at civil rights law firm in Ann Arbor, MI, receiving the MLK Fellowship from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, scholarship awards from the US Corporation for National and Community Service (better known as Americorps), and research funding received through the Michigan Community Scholars Program.


Matthew received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2007 and is already pursuing additional graduate degrees at the Queens College of Theology.


Currently, Matthew is an associate minister at the Empowerment Church in Southfield, MI. He has been instrumental in establishing children’s and youth ministries and leads the care ministry through pastoral care.
