About the program:

Do you want to build up your ministry skills so you can be a witness for Christ in the world? Are you ready to learn more about the transforming power of our God? The BTh integrates a well-developed foundation in Christian Studies with a broad and coherent theoretical and practical knowledge in theology and biblical studies. While ministry takes many forms, pastors and ministry leaders often find that they need a wide range of skills that do not come easily from personal study. Through this degree, you can foster a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of theology, and the Church. Each area of study in our religion degree is designed to help you delve deeper into the Word of God.  This includes exploration of the Christian tradition as well as progressive interpretations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

of this program are to:

Enable the student to learn and practice critical skills such as time and project management, research, critical thinking and analysis, communication and dialogue, and  problem-solving in a safe and welcoming academic environment, to better prepare them  for success in their vocation, ministry, and community.

What are the courses like?

  • Reading about 40 pages of related material per week, or about 300 pages total. (About 50 hours total.)

  • Submitting 2 written assignments about subjects related to the reading  material to demonstrate their understanding of the readings, consisting of up to 1,500  words (about 6 pages, double-spaced) per assignment. (About 45 hours total.) This would  be approximately 50% of the course’s grade.

  • Viewing 7 hour-long lectures (one per week) and taking a 5-question multiple-choice or  true/false quiz at the end of each lecture to affirm viewing. (About 10 hours total.) This  would be approximately 10% of the course’s grade.

  • Interacting with classmates through an online forum, substantively replying to two  prompted questions per week and substantively responding to at least one classmate’s  reply per week, to apply learning by engaging in dialogue. (About 25 hours total.) This  would be approximately 20% of the course’s grade.

  • Taking a final exam in a short essay format, to demonstrate mastery of the course’s  content. (About 3 hours of study preparation and 2 hours of exam time, about 5 hours  total.) This would be approximately 20% of the course’s grade.
