Statement On Diverse Curriculum Offerings
Queens College of Theology offers various programming that pastors determine to be progressive and contemporary. We understand that this may not align with some students beliefs.
We are committed to equipping pastors who are thoughtful, courageous, and prepared to minister in a complex and diverse world. As part of our theological education, students are exposed to a wide range of perspectives, including emerging progressive conversations within the global Church, such as queer theology. While broader biblical teaching traditionally affirms that sexual relations are designed for male-female marriage. Some Christians maintain that loving, faithful same-sex relationships can also honor God. A select few courses will explore that.
Our approach does not require agreement with every viewpoint presented; rather, it challenges students to engage critically, biblically, and theologically with the material. We encourage respectful dialogue, thoughtful questioning, and the freedom to critique, consistent with our belief that theological growth requires both conviction and openness.
We seek to form pastors who are not merely reaffirmed in what they already believe, but who are willing to challenge themselves, wrestle with new ideas, and deepen their capacity to lead with wisdom, compassion, and integrity. An unwillingness to engage with a diversity of theological perspectives is not consistent with the values of pastoral preparation we uphold.
Students are invited into a learning environment where robust discussion is welcomed and where the goal is not conformity, but maturity in faith, understanding, and ministry. All beliefs and values by our students are respected by faculty.
