Seek the Lord Before the Day Comes
Main Verse:
Zephaniah 2:3 (KJV)
“Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.”
Explanation:
Zephaniah prophesied during the reign of King Josiah, a time of reform, but also of hidden idolatry and coming judgment. The verse is a clear call to seek the Lord—not casually, but urgently, before judgment falls. He specifically calls the meek, those humble enough to recognise their need for God, to seek righteousness and humility. The phrase “ye shall be hid” points to God’s protection for those who earnestly seek Him, even in times of national or global judgment.
Reflection:
In our world today, there’s a sense of uncertainty—political unrest, moral decline, natural disasters, and personal trials. Zephaniah’s message is as relevant as ever. Am I truly seeking God daily, or only when trouble comes? Am I walking in righteousness and humility, or just going through the motions of faith?
Meditation:
Take a quiet moment to dwell on the phrase:
“Seek righteousness, seek meekness.”
Ask yourself:
• What does righteousness look like in my daily decisions?
• Am I humble before God and others?
• How can I live a life that reflects a heart that truly seeks the Lord?
Let the Holy Spirit speak as you meditate.
Prayer:
Father,
In the midst of all that is happening around me, help me to seek You with all my heart. Teach me what it means to walk in righteousness and to live with true humility. Hide me under Your wings in times of trouble, and guide my steps that I may not falter. Let Your Word stir a deeper hunger in me to pursue You daily, not just in word but in action. I choose today to seek You first.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Amen 🙏
